High School Readiness Program - July 8 to August 11
RU Ready? For high school that is!
If you are an 8th grader or a parent or guardian of an 8th grader then please read on!
Whether you attend a private, parochial or public school you probably will not have much attention paid to the move up to 9th grade. Maybe a tour of the high school one day in the spring and maybe an open house held on another night for parents or families.
Well, we at Tilton School believe that the summer between your 8th and 9th grade year is one of the most important transitions in your educational career and is the perfect time and possibly the last time to get ready for high school success!
Here is how it works:
You arrive and our talented staff assesses your academic foundation in language arts, math, study and time management skills and then we craft a course of study appropriate for you. We will also do this in your co-curricular of choice, whether that is theatre or a team sport.
If your academic foundation is solid in language arts and/or math, then your course of study for the program will deliver enrichment and advance preparation for the courses you aspire to take in high school. If you have some weaknesses in some of the foundational areas then we work to fill those gaps. Everyone will work on being more efficient at balancing the increasing academic, co-curricular and social demands of high school.
And, just to make things interesting and fun, we will have a full slate of activities and challenges planned and access to all of the resources on our beautiful campus and all of the best things about summer in the mountains of New Hampshire.
So not only will you be stronger academically, a better studier and time manager and more proficient in your co-curricular participation when you leave us, you will have had a great time!
Who should attend?
Students in 8th grade planning a college prep course of study in high school with the desire to be challenged in honors or advanced classes and who want to be valuable contributors in and outside of the classroom.
