Head of School Search
Dear Tilton Community,
The strength of Tilton School is embedded within the entire school community. As a member of the Board of Trustees, I am honored with the responsibility of chairing the Search Committee to appoint Tilton’s next Head of School.
The Search Committee has been charged to conduct a comprehensive, inclusive, transparent process that invites and considers the perspectives of all members of our community in important aspects of the search process. The Trustees and members of the Search Committee are equally required to maintain the necessary confidentiality required for all concerned. As Chair, I am committed to frequent and timely communication. I invite insights, feedback, and nominations from the community through direct, private communication with me as Chair.
We are grateful to the Saliba family for their years of service to Tilton. Peter has led with integrity and effectiveness, positioning Tilton for ongoing success. The process of searching for a new Head inspires our school to reflect on our future needs and the skills, qualifications, and personal qualities desired in our next Head of School. We are confident our search will yield capable leaders to meet the diverse needs of Tilton in the years to come. The Board will move quickly, and every effort will be made to identify a shortlist of highly qualified candidates who can join the school in the 2020 school year.
On behalf of all of Tilton School, the Trustees, the leadership team, faculty, and staff are fully committed to making the next eight months at Tilton the very best they can be.
In the coming weeks, we will establish a connection to the community on the Tilton School website that will keep you apprised of our progress. Please feel free to contact me directly if I can answer any questions you may have.
Very Truly Yours,
Rob Patten ‘89
Search Committee Chair
UPDATE - January 10, 2020
Dear Friends of Tilton School,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Search Committee, I am very excited to inform you that we have selected three finalists for the Head of School position.
This opportunity yielded an applicant pool of over one hundred candidates. Over the past month, among a group of highly talented and experienced educational leaders, the Search Committee reviewed materials, narrowed the field of candidates, and interviewed seven outstanding semi-finalists. Among the semi-finalists, three finalists were selected for on-campus interviews. Biographical sketches of the finalists will be posted here.
The finalists will visit the school for on-campus interviews the week of January 13, meeting with School constituents and experiencing our vibrant school and learning community in action.
Each of our three finalists shares deep and broad experience in all facets of school leadership, qualifying them to lead Tilton School. In their prior and current roles in boarding schools, each has demonstrated the character, judgement, and commitment to the growth and development of young people, those who work in their service, and the institutions they represent.
At this important moment in our School, and as we approach our 175th anniversary, we are confident that among our three outstanding finalists, we will identify a Head of School and visionary leader who, in collaboration with all who hold Tilton dear and those to come, will advance and lead Tilton long into the future.
While there is still work to be done as we move closer to a successful conclusion of our search, I would like to thank our Search Committee, the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Board Dave McElhinny, and members of the Tilton School community.
