Alumni Weekend 2019

Sarah O'Neill
Another momentous Alumni Weekend took place on the Hill June 7-9. Former RAMS from near and far returned to their old stomping groups for a weekend full of laughter and memories.
Together, we celebrated the milestone reunions of classes ending in “4” and “9”: 1969’s 50th reunion, 1989’s 30th, 1994’s 25th, 1999’s 20th, 2014’s 15th, and 2009’s 10th.  In addition to all alumni, we welcomed friends and family to join in the celebration!
This entire weekend was organized and executed by Alex Sedgley, Alumni and Parent Relations Manager, with support from the entire Tilton School Alumni and Development Office. This office is focused on keeping the alumni of RAMnation in touch with each other and with the school long after your last visit to the Hill. In addition to this weekend, they organize events on campus and around the country including Powder Keg (fall) and Winter Classic (winter), along with casual networking events. Together with the Class Ambassador Program, they also conduct outreach to Tilton School graduates to ensure you have the information necessary to stay connected with the school.
This year was one for the books. Friday kicked off with a welcome reception in Skinner Tower, with dinner courtesy of SAGE Dining. Head of School Peter Saliba P’17,’19,’19 welcomed alumni and invited the Class of 1969 outside to take a class photo. After, the Class of ‘69 proceeded to the Saliba home for a 50th reunion celebration dinner.
On Saturday morning, alumni had the option to go on a guided hike through the Back 40. After breakfast, classes paraded through campus with their class banners on the way to the chapel. It was then time for “School Meeting,” for old times sake. Many alumni are celebrated, but there are four award winners from this past weekend who are now in a group of those recognized for their achievements beyond the Hill.
Alumnus of the Year
Christopher C. Hamblet ‘94
Created in 1966, this award is presented to an alumnus who has made an outstanding contribution to his/her alma mater. Such contribution can be that which has had an impact on the school within a relatively short time or perhaps a less dramatic but substantial impact over a long period of time.

John Charles Daly Award
Sharon E. Spanos P'08, '11
Presented by the Head of School to a friend or alumnus/a of Tilton whose pursuit of excellence and deep commitment as a member of the School family resembles that of John Daly’s involvement with Tilton: continuous and widely known expressions of support in word and deed, inspiring others to reach goals that common experience dictates are impossible.

Artist Hall of Fame
Charles G. Baldwin ‘79
New in 2011, the Artist Hall of Fame Award looks to celebrate the achievements of Tilton School alumni/ae in the visual, performing or literary arts and looks to inspire current students who aspire to live and work in these fields.

After School Meeting, lunch was served under a tent on the quad, where music and lawn games were also enjoyed. Rachel Saliba P’17,’19,’19, Director of School Stewardship, led the Class of 1969 and their guests on a Historical Tour of the Mansion/Library before their class meeting and memorial service. There was an opportunity to participate in various shortened classes led by Tilton faculty, and a soccer game broke out on Burch Field while others showed off their tennis skills on the courts. The Class of 1989 was treated to a 30th celebration reception at the Head of School’s home while an all-class reception was held in Skinner Tower. The night concluded with a bonfire and smores at the firepit, donated by the senior class of 2018.

As breakfast concluded on Sunday and checkout began, old and new friends said farewell. The sun set on another Alumni Weekend on the Hill - we hope you all returned home with smiles on your faces. Until next year...
