Merit Scholarship Programs at Tilton School

For New Students

This scholarship program is exclusively designed for students entering Tilton School for the first time in the upcoming academic year. This scholarship program is exclusively designed for students entering Tilton School for the first time in the upcoming academic year. Competitive applicants will demonstrate quality academic performance, hard work and the potential to contribute to the Tilton community beyond the classroom.

The scholarships range from $5,000 to $15,000 for day students and $5,000 to $25,000 for boarders. The awards have designated requirements for eligibility and are renewable each year a student is enrolled in good standing. There are a limited number of awards and all qualified applicants will be considered.

Bradford W. Gile ’61 Scholarship Fund

The Bradford W. Gile Scholarship is awarded each year to a student from a nearby community who has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement. The recipient of this award demonstrates exemplary character, honor, and integrity—and should demonstrate leadership and participation in multiple areas of student/campus life. To maintain this scholarship the recipient must achieve academic honor roll status by the end of their 10th grade year. The scholarship may be granted to either a new candidate for admission or a returning student.

The Masiello Scholarships

The Masiello Scholarships are awarded each year to three students with need from a NH community with preference given to students adjacent to Tilton who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement. The recipients of this award must demonstrate exemplary character, honor and integrity and should demonstrate leadership and participation in three areas of student/campus life. To maintain this scholarship the recipients must achieve academic honor roll status by the end of their 10th grade year. The scholarship may be granted to either a new candidate for admission or a returning student. 

Mertie Willigar Buckman ’22 Scholarship for Young Women

The Mertie Buckman Scholarship is awarded each year to one young woman who has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and outstanding performance in multiple areas including team athletics, art and culture, community service, outdoor experience and leadership. The recipient of this award must demonstrate exemplary character, honor and integrity. The scholarship may be granted to either a new candidate for admission or a returning student.

Trustee Scholarship

Ranging from $7,500 to $15,000/25,000 (day/boarding), the Trustee Scholarship is for students with high-level academic performance, demonstrated leadership, and participation in three non-academic areas such as arts, music, community service, athletics, or the outdoors.

Head of School Scholarship

Ranging from $5,000-$10,000/20,000 (day/boarding), the Head of School scholarship rewards academic performance and participation in multiple non-academic areas such as arts, music, community service, athletics, or the outdoors.

Deans Scholarship

A scholarship of up to 7,500/10,000 (day/boarding), the Deans Scholarship awards consistent academic effort and  participation in two non-academic areas such as arts, music, community service, athletics, or the outdoors.

For Current Students

All honor roll students are reviewed for merit awards, but only a select few receive them. Awarded scholarships are renewable each year a student returns to Tilton in good standing.

Eugene H. Bauer ’60 Memorial Scholarship

Mr. Bauer came to Tilton as a postgraduate. He completed his postgraduate year at the Tilton School then went on to earn a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College. Mr. Bauer felt that his time at Tilton School played a pivotal role in his life and achievements.

Herbert B. Moore Scholarships Program

The Herbert B. Moore Scholars Program rewards a select group of students who have an established record of academic and co-curricular accomplishment and who demonstrate the potential for continued academic achievement and school leadership.

 

P.J. Shaughnessy ’02 Scholarship

The Shaughnessy Scholarship is presented each year to one student who exhibits a love of athletics, seriousness of academic purpose and warmth of personality.

The Governor Carlton Skinner ’30 and Solange Skinner Fellowship

The Skinner Fellowship will provide financial assistance to a student or students who exhibit a consistent sense of personal integrity, loyalty, curiosity and who have demonstrated a commitment to fight injustice in all its forms.
