ESL Enrichment at Tilton

About the ESL Enrichment Program

The ESL Enrichment Program at Tilton School offers international students in grades 7 - 11 the opportunity to engage in a rigorous English language academic program, and an opportunity for American cultural immersion.

Participants will receive instruction anad support to develop their fluency in academic reading and writing through small group targeted instruction. Following Tilton's well-known Understanding by Design curriculum framework, the program's focus will extend to:
• SAT, ACT and TOEFL prep,
• English proficiency, and
• Reading comprehension

The ESL Enrichment Program at Tilton School is taught by experienced ESL teaching professionals, utilizing Tilton's academic and co-curricular spaces. The cost of the ESL Enrichment Program is $5,495. See the registration link for payment information.

  • Meet the Staff

    Dustin Good
    Director of Summer Programming
    Dustin is a 2004 graduate of Wyoming Seminary and 2008 graduate of SUNY College at Cortland.  Prior to joining Tilton School, Dustin worked as a teacher and coach at The Montclair Kimberley Academy in New Jersey, where he taught middle school Social Studies. He also spent a year at the EBC English Institution in South Korea as a head English teacher.  

    Wenqing Zhang
    Academic Coordinator
    Wenqing has been teaching for several years since starting college at Beijing Language and Culture University in Beijing, China. She holds a Masters degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of Pennsylvania. Wenqing has experience teaching ESL and Mandarin to different age groups in both China and the United States. She is also a TOEFL tutor, translator, blogger and researcher.

    Darren Redman
    Classroom Teacher
    Darren holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology and a Masters degree in Sports Psychology, both from Springfield College. He serves Tilton as the English Department Chair and English teacher. Before joining Tilton he taught and coached at Mercedes-Benz International School in Pune, India and at New Hampton School in New Hampshire. 

    Tyler McDougold
    Afternoon/Weekend Activities & Residental Life Coordinator
    Tyler is a science teacher and dorm parent at Tilton School. Tyler graduated from Mount Allison University in 2010 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Biology. After college, he worked at Lee Academy.  He has also worked with youth at Wolfeboro Summer Boarding School and New England Hemophilia Association. At Tilton Tyler teaches Science, runs the Outdoor Club after-school activity and is a dorm parent. 

  • About Tilton

    Tilton School is conveniently located just 90 minutes north of Boston. Students will reside in Tilton School's residential facilities and will enjoy all meals in the school's dining hall.

    Located in the idyllic Lakes Region of New Hampshire, the program will include trips to the state's Seacoast Region, the White Mountains, and other recreational and cultural opportunities. Students will also travel as a group to Boston to use their English language skills to navigate the city's subway system and visit area universities. This is just one example of the cultural and academic crossroads of this three-week program.
