Tilton Artist of the Week: Ryan Waring
We are pleased to announce this week's featured artist, senior Ryan Waring!
Ryan Waring ‘18 is a four-year senior who discovered his interest and talent in ceramics during his freshman year. He started with Ceramics I, then moving on to Advanced Ceramics to further explore his interest. Ryan was asked to be a teacher’s assistant for this years ceramics classes and has thrived in that role. Ryan offers demonstrations, assists students one-on-one, helps to organize and maintain the ceramics studio, and prepares glazes and other materials for his peers.
As an artist, Ryan has begun to work on large-scale pottery. Some examples of Ryan’s work include a number of Raku pieces, seen here in the photos. Earlier this year a Raku firing event took place during which Ryan participated in firing alongside Mr. Goodwin and Mr. Rand, his current and previous ceramics instructors, respectively. Ryan’s talent, enthusiasm, and dedication have led him to be an outstanding member of Tilton’s art program, and this week’s Artist of the Week.
