Fall Activities in the Lakes Region

Kathryn Merola
The leaves are changing as the cool air moves in; sweaters and rain boots and scarves abound.  Fall is here in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire! Autumn activities are treasured around these parts. As families of current and prospective Rams visit Tilton School campus, there is plenty of fall fun for  the whole family.
Here’s a list of annual fall events and activities to enjoy in New Hampshire.

Sandwich, New Hampshire
The Sandwich Fair has taken place in Sandwich, New Hampshire every Columbus Day weekend since 1909. The fair is a plethora of fun for children and adults, attracting almost 40,000 people over the three-day weekend. There are tractor pulls, animal, photography and art shows, carnival rides, and food and shopping vendors.

Laconia, New Hampshire
New Hampshire Pumpkin Fest has taken place in Laconia, New Hampshire for the past two years. It’s full of family fun--from a haunted mill, amusement rides, live music, and a pumpkin pyramid. Go check it out on Friday, October 12, between 4-8 pm, or Saturday, October 13, from noon-8 pm. See this website to read in detail the activities for Pumpkin Fest 2018.

Meredith and Weirs Beach, New Hampshir
The Hobo Railroad has September and October harvest trains that show off New Hampshire’s beautiful foliage, as well as train turkey dinners around Lake Winnipesaukee. Tickets are from $17 for the harvest train to $50 for the turkey dinner.

Gilford, New Hampshire
At this twelve-acre orchard, you can enjoy picking ripe apples with your family and friends. You can stop by the farm stand for hot cider, local honey and maple products, or take a hay ride through the apple orchard! No matter what you chose to do, it will be great way to enjoy the outdoors this fall.

Meredith, New Hampshire
Open every day this fall from 8 am-5:30, Moulton Farm’s corn maze is a great way to get lost in fall family fun! Moulton Farm has designed the corn maze in celebration of Meredith’s 250th anniversary (see picture below). “Pick your own” pumpkin patches are located on the farm, and  free tractor and horse-drawn carriage rides are available each Sunday in October.
