Overview & Teams
Football - Varsity
2018 - 2019
Head Coach: Matt Dawson
Football at Tilton School has had a longstanding tradition of success. We play an eight-game varsity schedule in the competitive Evergreen League. Our competitive schedule makes each week's preparation and execution crucial. Our players enjoy pushing themselves and each other in an effort to reach our goals.
The program prides itself on having hard-nosed, hard-hitting athletes that contribute to one or two other team sports during the year. The coaching staff expects its players to be leaders in all areas of school life, and believes that players learn many valuable life lessons from participating in football: sportsmanship, teamwork, determination and dedication. As a result of this, we focus a great deal on team accomplishments as well as individual successes.
The Rams struggeld again against a physical team from Proctor. The hornets controlled the ball and the clock for much of the game. Bright spots for the Rams include touchdown scampers by Post Grad, Luis Gonzalez and Nick Recendiz 20'
A determined Tilton squd took the field prepared to get their first win of the season. The Black and Gold went down 6-0 mid way through the first quarter but were able to respond with a score of their own, as Luis Gonzalez 19' put the Rams on the board with a TD run and Brad Ameen 20' put the team on top 7-6 with the extra point. The teams then exchanged kickoff returns for touchdowns, as Nick Recendiz 20' answered a 50 yard return from Hyde with a 76 yard return for a score of his own. The Rams forced Hyde to punt from deep in their own territory late in the second quarter. Quarterback, Nick Recendiz and Running back Luiz Gonzalez ran behind the excellent blocking of Chris Walsh 20', Kai Rose 21' and Tobias Patterson 22' as Gonzalez punched in a go ahead score with under a minute to play in the half. The Rams used their first half momentum to propel themselves to their first win of the season. The squad travels to face Albany Academy next Satuday.
