As independent school parents, many do not get the day-to-day details about their child's experiences away from home. This is why we believe Fall Family Weekend is a very important time of the year. Parents get to witness their children at home on the Hill, students rejoice in being with their families, and faculty/staff enjoy meeting parents, sometimes for the first time.
Family arrival and registration began on Thursday afternoon followed by student/parent/teacher and college counseling conferences, pausing for a dinner break in Beaumont Dining Hall.
Friday brought on a full day of conferences and class observations, with the school store open throughout the day for those who needed to stock up on Tilton School swag. Parents joined us at School Meeting and later in the day, where postgraduate student Otto Bull '20 presented the flag of his home country, Zambia. As the first student from Zambia to attend Tilton School, Otto had the honor of announcing the flag to be hung in the dining hall with flags from all other countries represented by Tilton students past and present.
After school meeting, parents were invited to observe Grade Level Programming activities, followed by a parent social at Head of School Peter Saliba’s house.
Closing out Fall Family Weekend was a Saturday filled with home games and tailgating. The Tilton Parents’ Association manned the grill and provided an impressive display of treats at the Tilton Fields where the school spirit was overflowing. Varsity Field Hockey played Brewster Academy on Burch Field at 1:30 p.m., while the following games happened down at Tilton Fields:
2 p.m. BJVB Soccer vs. Proctor Academy
2:00 p.m. Football vs. Albany Academy
2:30 p.m. BJVA Soccer vs. High Mowing School
2:30 p.m. GV Soccer vs. Brewster Academy
BJVA Soccer snatched a victory against High Mowing! Families were accompanied by students, faculty, staff, alumni and fellow Tilton fans for a fun-filled day of cheering on the RAMS. Thank you to everyone who made Fall Family Weekend possible - can’t wait for next year!
