Honoring Fall Sports Teams
Stephen Gilpatrick

The Tilton community recognized its Fall athletes at the Fall Athletic Awards assembly this past Monday night. It was a serious yet joyous hour on a cold and rainy evening. The illuminated Chapel served as a beacon to the students walking towards it through the darkness. It had been a challenging Fall sports season for the Rams, and as Tara Brisson rose to the podium she recognized her responsibility as Athletic Director to move the School forward.

Athletic Director Tara Brisson’s opening comments (excerpted):

“Tonight, as your Athletic Director, as a coach and as an athlete myself, I am reminded that it is tough moments like those we have experienced this Fall that point to the powerful impact athletics has upon us.”

“Playing a sport is not always easy. So, instead of making excuses, I encourage you to put in the hard work necessary to overcome deficiencies. Instead of saying ‘I can’t” or “we couldn’t,” endeavor to develop the mental strength to bounce back from disappointment.”

“I assure you, when you read the sports pages you’ll find that successful athletes don’t see failure as defining them. Instead, they see an opportunity to challenge themselves to  improve.”

“My challenge to all of us for the remainder of this year is to do just that, IMPROVE. Each day we can get better at something. So, take pride in becoming the best coach, player, teammate and person we can be each time we enter the crucible of athletic competition”

“Each time, remind those who may not  know what it means to be a RAM, and how fortunate we are  to call Tilton School our home.”

“Huge congratulations to the Girls' Soccer Team that will be representing us at the NEPSAC playoffs for the second year in a row. Best of luck Women’s Soccer!”
